Yuina N. - Career & Mindset Coaching

6-Month Program & Continuous Sessions

“I would recommend to returnees, etc., someone who lived abroad for over 5 years. After the 6 months, I know so much more about myself, my patterns, and my beliefs. I feel more confident and understand the impact of coaching, and to have someone that you are comfortable talking to without any judgments. ”

Before 1-1 Coaching Session - Biggest Obstacles Before Joining?

Was looking for a mentor coach, that learned from a diff person and organization with different coaching techniques that I could learn. Because of Kristy's background. She knew what life is like in Japan. She could understand what I was going through in Japan.

One biggest obstacle, I was not sure where investing the money, where that was going to take me. I had never spent so much money on myself. I wanted to learn instead of work on myself...

What mindset beliefs did you overcome?

Knowing my patterns, and why I choose to do things, just becoming aware of my patterns, and where my patterns started from, and start accepting it, instead of fighting it. Being able to find this, was really eye-opening. Reflecting and being able to notice. This one step allowed me to work with it.

What made the biggest difference (or had the biggest impact) for you during the coaching program?

Knowing that Kristy understands what I am feeling, without having to explain everything. Culturally understanding my position is really big.

If you could describe the coaching experience in a few words, what would that be?

Fun, Self-reflective (learn about myself), Calm

After 1-1 Coaching Session with Kristy

My experience with Kristy was different because it started out being a mentor coach for a coaching program, but over the 6 months I was working with her, my plans changed and she was able to change and adjust with me.

During my sessions, we talked about coaching techniques in my coaching course, and also helped me unpack and accept things that had happened to me in my life and career. It helped me figure out more about how I came to be the person who I am today.

I had worked with a different coach before, and it is hard to find someone who is just right for you. But I am so glad that my past boss recommended me to her.

It is so rare to find someone who understands what you have been through culturally, and being the same generation and age. She understood the social pressure that I go through. Being able to talk in both languages was also really big for me. Sometimes I don't know what the perfect word in English, and understanding the nuances behind things is difficult, but Kristy was able to understand me fully.

After the 6 months, I know so much more about myself, my patterns, and my beliefs. I feel more confident and understand the impact of coaching, and to have someone that you are comfortable talking to without any judgments.

And, lastly, having accountability and acceptance. Sometimes you just need that little bit of assurance. I recommend Kristy to someone that is living in Japan, that questions their cultural identity, that is going through a lot of changes in life, and wants someone to help them navigate that whole process.

Yuina continued on in pursuing her career and found a great job at a Big 4 Consulting firm! It’s always fun to catch up over Afternoon Tea or some other great food in Tokyo!

So proud of Yuina for challenging herself to always stay in a growth mindset.
